SuperMax Cricket Rules

Longstanton-Grasshoppers Cricket Club is the venue for Cambridgeshire's Super Max Tournament, which is open to all cricket clubs, based in Cambridgeshire. The tournament is split into two competitions senior and junior to give clubs of all standards the opportunity to enter. The tournament is held on August bank holiday Monday, lasts all day and works as late season fundraiser for the club.

The Rules

General

*Each match lasts for 1 hour 20 minutes.
*Each team has one innings of 10 x 6 ball overs.
*Each innings is to be completed in 40 minutes. The first 9 overs must be completed in 35 minutes.
*There are 8 players per team, plus a ninth man.
*If a no ball is bowled the batsmen is not out; neither can he be dismissed off the next ball.
*A no ball shall be called if the ball bounces above shoulder height, and if a ball fails to bounce and passes the batsman above waist height.
*A wide shall count as 2 extras to the batting side and an extra ball shall be bowled.


Batting

*Each team has 1 innings in which all 8 players of each team can bat.
*No batsman needs to retire, the last man is left not out.
*If the ball is hit into the Max Zone the runs are doubled.
*The Max Zone only applies to shots in front of the wicket.
*If a catch is completed inside the Max Zone the batsman is out.
*An incoming batsmen has 1 minute from the fall of the last wicket to enter the field.


Bowling

*Each of the bowlers can bowl up to a maximum of 2 overs per match.


Fielding

*In the first 5 overs only 2 fielders are allowed outside the circle.
*In the last 5 overs only 4 fielders are allowed outside the circle.
*If any fielder hits the stumps the ball is either dead or the batsmen is run out.
*No fielder is allowed in the Max Zone as the ball is being delivered.


Intervals

*There is an immediate change over, not lasting any more than 5 minutes.


Over Rate Penalties

*The umpire should be in the position to commence the 10th and final over prior to 35 minutes of that innings. Failure by the fielding side to comply with this will result in a penalty, allowing the fielding side to only bat the same number of overs as they bowled during the 35 minutes.
E.g. If the fielding side bowls only 9 overs inside the 35 minutes the batting side is allowed to complete their 10 overs. However as a penalty the fielding side may only bat 9 overs.
