Coaching Points

Step 1

GRIP

1.) Fingers and thumbs wrapped around handle.
2.) V formed by thumb and forefinger of each hand should be in line, aligned between the outside edge of the splice of the bat.
3.) Hands close together (near top of handle).
4.) Top hand rests comfortably against insude of front thigh.
5.) Back of top hand faces extra cover.

Step 2

STANCE

1.) Head facing down pitch - eyes level. Should be relaxed and comfortable.
2.) Shoulder and hips in alignmant.
3.) Knees slightly flexed.
4.) Feet parallel to crease and comfortably apart to allow balance and easy movement.

Step 3

BACKLIFT

1.) Both eyes fixed on the ball.
2.) Left shoulder and elbow point towards the ball.
3.) Bat swings back above the stumps
4.) Elbows kept clear of body.
5.) Head and body are kept balanced and still.
6.) Rhythmical swing of the bat.
