Coaching Points

Step 1

Correct grip, relaxed and balanced stance. Eyes level.

Step 2

Rhythmic, high backswing.

Step 3

Head and shoulde lead towards line of the ball. Weight of body is taken on a bent front leg (comfortable stride).
Bat begins downswing.
Body remains side on.
Back leg straight

Step 4

Contact made underneath the eyes.
Bat vertical, showing the full fac, angled down just in front of front leg.
The bowlers view should show no gap between bat and pad.
Top hand in control, bottom hand relaxed.
Played gently with high hands.
Heal of back leg raised to allow upper body weight to move further forward to achieve balance.
