Coaching Points

Step 1

Correct grip, relaxed and balanced stance. Eyes level.

Step 2

Rhythmic, high backswing.

Step 3

Head and shoulde lead towards line of the ball. Weight of body is taken on a bent front leg (comfortable stride). Bat begins downswing.

Step 4

Contact made underneath the eyes.
Bat vertical and accelerating, remaining 'on the line' of the stroke for as long as possible. Head remains steady.

Step 5

Bat and hands finish high. Look for a run. Full follow through should always be encouraged, however some youngsters may find it easier to use checkswing as illustrated.
